FIGURE 8's

Got to see some Figure 8's at Ascot as a kid, it was the best when they would chain the cars together in pairs!!

YARD SALE FIND!!

I was told by the guy I bought these from that the rider who wore these used to race Ascot in the 80's on an ATK with a 604cc Rotax mill in the 500cc class. Rotax made engines for everything, snowmobiles, airplanes, and the Rotax engine was a favorite of many flat track racers. U.S. made ATK's were a very popular site at race tracks back in the day. House of Handlebars was a small Mom and Pop shop that got its start in Paramount and eventually moved to Signall Hill. The shop is no longer, I'd imagine the recent economy didn't help.

GARDENA 1968

Although I wasn't even born yet, I did get to race Ascot for about 4 years up until 1990 when they closed the track. I'm going to try and dig up some old photos of the park in the 80's. I never thought back then that I'd miss the place as much as I do now.
